About Me

There’s a time that you can be silly and have fun with the kids, and there’s a time to be serious when you’re talking with the parents. Being able to mix those two together, and to be there for a child and their family during a very stressful time, is very rewarding.

Jill Jeffe, MD, is the Section Head of Pediatric Otolaryngology within the Department of Otorhinolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Rush University Medical Center. She also serves as the Medical Director of the Rush Pediatric Aerodigestive Program. Dr. Jeffe is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She has many clinical interests in diseases of the head and neck in children, with special emphasis on pediatric airway stenosis, endoscopic airway surgery, laryngotracheal stenosis, and obstructive sleep apnea. Her current research interests include minimizing radiation exposure in the diagnosis of pediatric deep neck space infections and the utility of home sleep testing in pediatric obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Jeffe completed her medical school and residency in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern University and her fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children. She is passionate about medical education both at the resident and medical school level, and currently serves on the Committee for Student Evaluation and Promotion for Rush Medical College. Dr. Jeffe believes that the cornerstone of pediatric otolaryngology is the opportunity to offer comfort and guidance to children and their parents during times of stress and uncertainty. She is an advocate for the collaboration and coordination of care to improve the patient experience, which was the inspiration for development of the Pediatric Aerodigestive Program at Rush Children’s Hospital. This program is the first multidisciplinary clinic in the greater Chicagoland area that addresses the unique needs of patients with complex, interrelated swallowing and breathing disorders and highlights her commitment to improving quality of care for patients at Rush.
