About Me

A conversational approach with patients helps lead me to the best outcomes.

Michael Eggerstedt, MD, is a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Rush who practices both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He earned his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Rush University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

An accident early in life left Eggerstedt with multiple facial fractures. That influenced the trajectory of his career and steered him toward facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Today, he partners with patients to internalize their goals ahead of surgery and provide them with the best outcomes possible. He prides himself on relaxed patient visits and natural results — both of which he says are products of his Midwest upbringing.

Eggerstedt's cosmetic practice includes the full spectrum of surgical procedures, including facelifts, neck lifts, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty (eyelid lifts), brow lifts and buccal fat reduction. His cosmetic patients benefit from having a surgeon with a broad skill set who can take them across the finish line no matter where they begin. His reconstructive practice includes skin cancer reconstruction, facial nerve reanimation, microvascular free tissue transfer, complex trauma, nasal reconstruction and cancer reconstruction.

In his free time, Eggerstedt enjoys hiking and camping, cheering on the Illini and spending time outdoors with his wife and children.
